Look no further than the streets of Harajuku and you’ll see that Japanese fashion is on its own amazing and creative level of expression. Seea has always appreciated Japanese culture's unabashed passion for fashion, and we were stoked to be able to put our imaginations together with Japanese retail juggernaut United Arrows and it's brand Lepidos again this year.
The second Seea x Lepidos collaboration includes three exclusive rashguards in quirky prints and colors only available at select United Arrows stores and theSeea.com in limited quantities.
One of the most influential retailers in Japan, United Arrows operates a large network of stores and owns many private label brands, including Lepidos, which is known for their bright prints, custom designed each year. Seea has appeared at two of its more high profile "Beauty & Youth" stores in Japan: in Shibuya, a huge fashion city, and Shonan, a major surf town.

All around the world, Vans shoes are known as the epitome of the coastal surf and skate lifestyle. Indeed, as a kid growing up in Italy and Brazil, designer of Seea Amanda Chinchelli says that Vans shoes represented all things cool in California.
Now years later, as Amanda made her way to SoCal and founded Seea in the beach town of Hamburg, it was a dream come true to be contacted by Vans and discover that the iconic shoe brand admired her creations as well.
“I came across Seea in the Fall of 2011 while shopping at Thalia Surf Shop in Laguna Beach,” says Vans footwear designer Lindsay White, who lived nearby and frequented Thalia’s art shows. “The guys in the shop told me it was brand new and that they were really excited about it.
Lindsay says she instantly fell in love with Seea’s unique point of view on women’s surfwear and fashionable instinct. She reached out to collaborate with Amanda for a special capsule of women’s shoes in the Vans Surf category, which offers a modern twist on classic styles for people who live a surf-inspired lifestyle. Seea joins a diverse mix of notable Vans team riders, bands and high fashion brands in Vans’ legacy of unique collaborations.
“I think I've had Vans in my closet since I was ten, so these shoes are definitely close to my heart,” Amanda says. “As my family grows and we set down our own roots in California, I couldn't be happier to work together.”
Now available at select retailers, the Vans x Seea 2014 collection uses original prints from Seea's latest swimwear styles, adapted onto footwear. Here, Lindsay shares why Vans chose Seea as a partner, and Amanda explains further the design inspiration behind the new styles.

Seea was founded in the DIY spirit that if you have an idea, you can make it happen. For me, this idea was simple: To create rashguards and suits that were stylish, functional and comfortable for surfing. As a supporter of creative artists, Thalia Surf Shop was one of the first retailers to carry SEEA, and has been one of our main supporters over the last two years, helping transform a dreamy idea into reality.
Made with the hopes of inspiring others to follow their dreams, we proudly present MADE IN THE USA, a short video following the creation of our second custom project with Thalia, from concept to the factory to the surf.
For our second exclusive collaboration with Thalia, owner Nick Cocores came along for the ride (or in this case, actually drove the swanky VW bug) to see the step-by-step production process of the Thalia x Seea Doheny rashguard, Swami's playsuit and surf leggings.

Leah from Thalia Street Surf Shop hits the nose and shuffles back wearing the Doheny rash guard. |
From digging through bolts of fabric and mountains of zippers to watching the pieces being sewn in the downtown Los Angeles factory, it was all documented in moving pictures to show the care and personal touch that is put into the making of a Seea suit—the swimsuit version of the farm-to-table method. Proudly made in the U.S.A.
Check out the video filmed by Chris Steblay of the Seeworthy Project and be inspired to make something, and then have fun surfing in it!

For the exclusive release, Seea made a Doheny rashguard using Ron Herman’s signature red and blue logo colors. The rashguard body is made from a unique textured fabric in navy, with contrast red & white stripe cuffs. Wear this slim cut, long body rashguard with your favorite bottoms, or pair with the Solimar bikini in pink stripe for the perfect match.
