Fashion is one of the most influential industries in the world.

Fashion is one of the most

wasteful industries in the world.

Fashion is an outlet for creative expression, but it is dirty business.

The United Nations names the fashion industry as the second most polluting of all industries, resulting in up to 8% of all carbon emissions and 20% of all global wastewater (United Nations, 2019). Global clothing consumption has more than doubled from 74.3 billion items of clothing and footwear in 2005 to 130.6 billion items in 2019 (Euromonitor International, 2020).

We recognize the inherently wasteful nature of the fashion industry and are working to be a part of the solution.

Caring for the planet and our community are our priorities.

We eschew the conventionally detached models of production for one that centers people and the planet, building relationships and community.

SEEA TRANSPAREN-SEA

Production

California Made

In the very early days of Seea, Amanda, founder and head designer, would drive her 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon up and down the California coast in search of local factories to produce her swimsuits. We have been honoring her commitment to local production since those early days; proudly manufacturing all of our collections (with the exception of our Yulex wetsuits) right here in sunny California. By collaborating closely with small, independent California-based factories we we ensure the highest quality products while upholding our pledge to eco-conscious swimwear production. Moreover, this partnership allows us to contribute to our local economy and community.

Thoughtful Design

ELEGANT DESIGN WITH FUNCTIONALITY AT THE FOREFRONT

We design everything with longevity and lifespan in mind: from a suit's first stitch in our factory through over a decade of catching waves with you - we know that it must be purposeful, functional, and made with materials that are gentler on the planet than conventional options.

Our Fabrics

Recycled Fabrics

Nearly 80% of our collection is made from recycled fabric. The recycled fabric is composed of rPET, which is made from post-consumer or post-industrial sources.

Our recycled C-skin (Comfort Skin) fabric is made in Taiwan and printed in the United States.

Deadstock

Most clothing brands purchase new fabric from fabric mills every season. After all the garments are made, the leftover fabric is called deadstock. In most cases, deadstock fabrics are eventually sent to landfill. We sometimes purchase deadstock to use in

Content: Contents vary with specific fiber contents unknown

Yulex

Neoprene wetsuits are made from harmful petrochemicals, which is why we proudly made the decision to leave neoprene behind and switch to Yulex. A plant-based material, Yulex is made from Forest Stewardship Council certified rubber trees, which ensures that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic vitality.

Textured Fabrics

Seea's signature textured fabrics offer a refreshing alternative to conventional swimwear fabrics in both vibe and feel, without forfeiting comfort or wearability.

We have been working diligently over the years to find textured fabrics made from recycled material. And although our hard work has paid off, some of our textured fabrics are not made from recycled materials.

Swimsuits made from textured fabrics with recycled content will be noted as such in their product descriptions, while textured fabrics that do not have any recycled content will not have that distinction.

Our Production Radius

We proudly sew and produce within 70 miles of our Hamburg headquarters.

With the exception of our Yulex wetsuits (LEARN MORE HERE) localized production means making the trip ourselves to pick up suits hot off the sewing machines! It's a full-circle act that keeps us directly engaged with our production cycle: inspired always by the face-to-face interactions with the talented people who make our suits.

Family Owned & Community Centered

35+ Years of Craft.

Seea is proud to partner with establishments that value the unsung heroes of the fashion industry: the seamtresses and factory workers. Our Santa Ana factory has been family-owned since 1985, and maintains long-term relationships with their employees: some have been working there for over 20 years!

Real people behind every stitch.

Just like Seea as a whole, our seamstresses place a lot of time and value into the work they create for every single suit. Hover above the image below to read more about the faces and hands behind your Seea suits!
